Description

Topsy the elephant . . . the Hottentot Venus . . . Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins in Psycho . . . the Indian God Ganesha . . . Laika, the first dog in space . . . Orson Welles . . . these are some of the wide-ranging subjects in this collection of stories. I started with the most complicated layouts incorporating photographs, splashes of paint, hand-drawn type and more. I gradually peeled and stripped away various elements until there was just the title on a black field. The use of “almost” black metallic ink and glossy/matte laminations for the final printing helped to infuse this design with the richness I originally intended.
