This is a catalogue of the work of the Woolfs, mainly at the Hogarth Press. Their work there and the accompanying illustrations was not of particular interest to designers, so we went to pains to include distinctive elements of some of the more notable Woolf books, in particular the Curwen Press patterned papers often used for binding, and the rough-edged paper. I was certain to use Carter & Cone’s version of display Caslon for the larger sizes and Adobe Caslon for text.
We put much of the budget into the good paper and special binding, and so had only three full-color illustrations printing on one form, with the rest halftone.
