Description

Including all the various sizes of Rockwell Kent’s bookplate design for the Friels, which were available in their original printing for this project, and a reproduction of another Kent bookplate, was a challenge: essentially there were to be five illustrations, four of which were the same excepting size. I must admit that I could really only figure a way to intermingle three Friel and one other bookplate in the text. It was the publisher, Tom Boss, who suggested making the other one a tip-on on the cover.

Thanks also are due to the publisher for allowing us to use some fine imported papers and letterpress printing—both of which come together with the design and typography to make a nice package.
