Finding the perfect rose for this literary, scientific book was difficult. I finally found this image, which was originally a very light pink, and changed the color to a deep yellow to evoke the warmth and intimacy Russell brings to the subject. I thought that placing the flower in the center of the cover would also give it the feel of a specimen ready for inquiry, while also making its structure and depth the focal point. The two black columns down the side contribute to the serious, classical feel.
