Written by a respected biologist, this book examines human sexuality through the sex lives of animals. The author utilizes her mischievous wit and biting sense of humor, as well as scholarly research, to tell us amazing stories and provide new insight into this fascinating realm of study. The search for an image that had the right balance of humor and intrigue was the primary challenge—an image that would not give up its “punch line” too readily. At the same time, a degree of subtlety was necessary in order not to betray the author’s serious intent. The typography was kept simple and restrained so as not to compete with the image.
