Description

This cover story on Uma Thurman was timed to the release of Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill, Volume 1. As we went to press, news broke of her husband Ethan Hawke’s philandering ways and their separation. The jumping off point of the design was simply to set the tabloid-sounding headline in our text font. The fact that GQ looked so good sealed the deal.

Juror Notes

So classic; it's that great cue, just the right amount of color. Maybe a hair too much letterspace. Appreciate the honesty of it, it isn’t trying to be something else. Design has to work hard when content is not there. The picture of Uma is great, so what more do you need?
