We needed to make an invitation for an exhibition opening at an art and design college that would be cost effective and at the same time striking. Because the artworks that were being shown in the exhibition were large in scale, we wanted to reproduce the chosen art for the invitation at an impressive size. This is difficult to do with any standard-size invitation. The solution was to print the invitation the size of a press sheet, 24 x 36” but use a paper so light that it could be folded and mailed. We chose a lightweight newsprint. All of the exhibition information was printed on the outside of the invitation, so that when the invitation was unfolded, it could also be used as a poster. This allowed for flexibility, as it could be mailed, distributed by hand, and hung around the college campus to promote the exhibition.
This is so delicate and beautiful. It works in either orientation, vertical or horizontal.
