We set out to do something that related to the idea of how stories are passed along until they attain a certain sense of timelessness. E was cleaning out the basement at his parents’ house and found this wonderful old children’s book, and when we looked at it, everything kind of clicked. The trick was in packaging the album so that it looked like something that had been found in a basement as well. We wanted the package to have the tactile storybook feel that echoed the cardboard covers of the old Golden Books. We decided to use a digipak instead of the plastic jewel case. In the one-color booklet I added elements from the original storybook and combined them with newer elements such as the Eels logo and made them look as if they were there all along.
