Description

The challenge for the project was to design a CD and special-edition media kit for Void Where Prohibited’s new release, Pete’s Free Gig Summer. Based on the band’s wit and sarcastic style, our design solution was an irreverent, humorous look at American pop culture. We referenced things that might be outlawed, or labeled “Void Where Prohibited.” The CD cover presents a “dangerous” squirt gun and the inside of the CD shows the intended victim, a bikini-clad blonde. The special-edition kit references a dime-store bag of candy, containing goodies about the band’s history and style, including baseball cards with each band member’s vital stats. The strong colors and fun imagery create a high-energy package that really gets noticed, which is half of the battle for a talented aspiring band.
