The biggest challenge was to make a distinctive package outside of a standard jewel case, but within a very limited budget. I designed a die folder specifically for this piece, then pulled colors from the cover art for the inside panels. There’s just enough information to make it interesting and fun, but the flat areas of color give the piece a certain confidence. The only restriction really was the budget. The band provided the key art, and the photos were Polaroids. It was a unique project in that all the parties involved—band members, producer, label—were on the same page. The mock-up, which the band kept, is virtually identical to the finished piece. I like the tissue paper booklet pages best. The paper was dead stock from a shop going out of business, and got all creased and smudgey through the press because it was so thin.
