Description

I art directed and designed this CD package to fulfill Columbia’s marketing strategy of providing a young, hip, alternative audience with concept, design, and imagery that were as compelling, vibrant, and edgy as Sponge’s music. The 4-color/1-color CD booklet and 2-color label conform to standard packaging guidelines.

The CD packaging was my own concept and design, not a design by committee. The final product emerged from the close relationship I had with the band, my knowledge of their personality, music, and what they were looking for, and my understanding of the label’s marketing needs. I was happy with the result because I feel it was successful for exactly these reasons.
