The thing designers dread most in doing an album project is hearing that the artists have done their own photography. It usually entails hours of work to try and create a platform for the two artistic qualities to merge. Interestingly, though, the genius of this package lay entirely in the photos created by Mark Linkous in his backyard. The challenge was not how to use them but rather which ones to use. We have yet to work on another project where the artist was so in tune with who they were and what they were all about.
