“Another Bernstein album?” you say. Not so with these new recordings of classic Bernstein, written at a time when both Leonard and New York City were in their heyday. Performed by some of today’s brightest theatrical artists—Mandy Patinkin, Donnna Murphy, and Dawn Upshaw, to name a few—this package needed to give listeners (both the younger generation as well as the die-hard Bernstein fans) a chance to rediscover the New York Americana that Bernstein loved to depict in his music.
