Description

The band requested that we include a lion image on the album cover, as they had already decided to entitle the CD “Mata Leão,” which means “Kill the Lion” in Portuguese. It is also an assassin pose in karate. I then created surrounding graphics that I felt corresponded with their hard metal music. The typography combines rough industrial labeling balanced by an elegant script. The front cover photo is an actual recording of a lion attack on a movie set in Spain and was obtained from Life magazine. The package is ideal, as it mirrors their aggressive music, ideology, and interjects an elegance that confronts their audience with something unexpected.
