This public artwork installation in the lobby of a state govenment high-rise inscribes the quotations of local children on ephemeral acrylic panels. Individual suspended letters (Regime, Authority, Legality, Protector, Order) provide clues to the children’s ideas of what government is.
Collectively, the quotations convey to the general public a questioning of government, along with a sense of amazement that this ponderous system manages to function, held aloft by our fragile system of beliefs. The installation infiltrates the architecture of the building, appropriating the language of monumentality to embrace the voices of an overlooked community of children.
