Description

The Brooklyn Academy of Music is metropolitan New York’s premier venue for avant-garde cross-disciplinary music, dance, theater, and art performances. Pentagram was commissioned in 1995 to begin graphic design work coninciding with a major refurbishment of the main BAM facility. A new visual approach was introduced with the material for the fall 1995 Next Wave Festival of dance and musical performance.

Pentagram organized the layout for the brochure around a motif of wide stripes. Type is partially concealed by the stripes to suggest something coming over the horizon, a visual metaphor for the Next Wave Festival’s focus on emerging talent.
