Description

Most paper promotions are designed by designers for designers. This particular paper and swatchbook had to work much harder than most such projects. Tharp and Drummond wanted to educate and guide the paper specifier through the process of producing a wine label, outlining both the legal and the technical requirements. Designing a wine label is unlike designing most other print material because of various federal government regulations and bottling line mechanics and adhesives. The designers interviewed printers, paper company technical advisors, field salespeople, bottling line personnel, winery marketing executives, and the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms.

The layout is very matter-of-fact. The text is presented in a very logical and legible context. Label terminology and production notes are clearly defined. “The Wine Label in Six Easy Steps” outlines communications and production flow.
