Creating a CD-ROM catalog for a collection of paintings is a challenging task: how to create a subtle, compelling environment for fourteen paintings that is sensitive to the conventional representation of artwork yet exploits technology’s potential for multiple perspectives. The designers activated the screen according to hierarchy and function, creating a clean, legible interface with a consistent navigational map that allows the viewer to focus on content and enjoy the many presentation options available in the medium free from technical distractions.
