Description

Every fourth page of this issue is a different painting, all color, all full bleed. The artists vary from Fred Tomaselli to Henri Rousseau, but the pieces all share something we could never quite articulate—something direct, open, overflowing. When it came time for the cover, we just imagined this colorful bounty oozing through the boards. Jacob Magraw-Mickelson’s vine-like paintings fit perfectly, and so we laid this over our usual text-heavy copyright page and embossed the art. There’s a story there, hidden under those creeping vines, but only we know how it ends.
