When this series of "construction" ads was created, Burton's competitors were relying on new computer technologies to create their slick images. Bucking the trend, Burton and the designers went junk shopping, generating and then photographing more than seventy one-of-kind, hand-crafted collages. Letter by letter, even some fine-print type was glued in.
