The audience: attendees at North American racquetball tournaments. The purpose: build on brand
positioning of Penn's unparalleled consistency as the manufacturerer of top-performance racquetballs. The strategy: create a page that has stopping power; say something quickly without color or lengthy copy. The parameters: produce a full-page ad for tournament programs; print b/w only on inexpensive uncoated papers; no time; little budget. The value: the designer praised the copywriter (it was his idea) and the client's acceptance of something so economical and playful. "It fit the nature of sport. Plus, they let us use a photo of the ball instead of the corporate logotype."
