CAT Limited 1996 Annual Report

Pentagram, New York, New York, 1996

Description

CAT Limited is a privately held underwriter of property catastrophe reinsurance based in Bermuda. Knowing the location, value, and construction type of reinsured properties is crucial to underwriting in this business. The 1996 annual report was designed to communicate CAT Limited’s scientific, technological, and financial expertise in assessing value and building models to project probable losses from natural disasters in specific geographic regions—down to the levels of zip code and even street address.

The 1996 annual report describes each major type of catastrophic event through illustrations that express the magnitude, power, and destruction caused by tornadoes, hurricanes, tidal waves, and earthquakes. The designers used statistics of historic catastrophes to draw typographic illustrations: figures for death and property damage take on the forms of funnel clouds, lightning bolts, and fault lines. Accompanying maps and diagrams highlight CAT Limited’s corporate capabilities, resources, assets, and achievements.
