Packaging, Candinas chocolate

Planet Propaganda, Madison, Wisconsin, 2004

Description

Candinas Chocolatier is an artisan chocolate maker. Therefore, the packaging needed to reflect the unique quality of the chocolates and appeal to those looking for something special—not simply a tasty sweet, but a chocolate experience.

The packaging of the chocolates plays a big part in the experience. Right away, a decision was made to reject the stereotypical glossy black and/or gold chocolate packaging. Instead, Candinas’ packaging needed to have a thoughtful construction and feel that related to the high quality of their chocolates. Opening the packaging needed to feel like opening a special gift.

The structure of the box was carefully considered. The materials had to have a tactile feeling to imply the richness in the chocolates. Die cuts and sleeves, enhanced with layered contrasting patterns, create a textured feel to complement the complex flavors of the chocolates.
