Men and Cartoons

Men and Cartoons

Marc Cozza Design, Portland, Oregon, 2004

Description

A book of short stories that immerses itself in comic book metaphors and lore, Jonathan Lethem’s book package communicates its concept through pulpy comic book ads. The front cover is bold and distinct, enabling it to jump off the shelf. The back cover encapsulates each story in a style and humor appropriate to the genre. The author happily collaborated on the small synopses by contributing copy.
It was important that the print quality mimic the inexpensive and inexact printing methods of comic books. To achieve that aim, we chose uncoated paper, dull colors and slightly off-register halftones.
