Description

Minotauro is a Portuguese publishing project created in 2009 for the Almedina publishing group, aiming to publish 8 to 10 books of contemporary foreign fiction annually, favoring authors unknown to the Portuguese readers. The target audience was identified as young (25 to 40 years), urban, cosmopolitan and curious about different cultures. The goal was to create something viewy yet distinct that can convey graphically the care taken in the selection of published titles. To differentiate from the Portuguese book-cover design panorama, adopting an apparent classical look turned out to be the bolder approach. The end result also contributes to a sense of quality for the collection, something to be enjoyed and collected by readers.

Juror Notes
