AIGA “Voice” animation

Chermayeff & Geismar Inc., New York, New York, 2002

Description

“20/20” is an event of one-minute presentations by 20 designers, where each can show/do/say whatever he or she wants on a particular theme. The time limit is strictly enforced; the live audience consists of very critical and jaded graphic designers.

The challenge was to leave the letterforms of the word “Voice,” the scale and the proportion, as they were, and only change the image by rearranging and playing with the individual letters. The storyboard and actual animation were designed on my laptop during train rides between home and New York City.

The animation is a lighthearted, nonverbal statement at a design conference where too often too many visual people want to express too many profound thoughts.
