Art as Experience/Art as Experiment

Perimetre-Flux, San Francisco, California, 2000

Description

In December 1999, we were asked to create a visual/experiential identity for “Making Sense of Modern Art,” the latest of SFMOMA’s interactive titles dedicated to delivering interpretive content related to the museum’s permanent collections. The project has been designed to be deliverable both in the gallery setting via kiosk viewing stations and over the Internet. In summer 2000, the Anderson Collection interactive program was designed to support a significant exhibition of the works collected by Hunk and Moo Anderson. The interactive software was to provide on-site interpretive content portrayed on gallery viewing stations and republished on the web. The software was also published on CD-ROM for sale in the museum store for an archival quality version of the same content. Coupled with expanded educational content, the program works as a teacher’s resource for classroom presentation of the content with added activities targeted for different age groups.
