A Ring and a Riddle

A Ring and a Riddle

Vera Bock, 1944

Description

Juror Notes

The two sections of the book are set apart from each other by their treatment: the tale is embellished with crisp decorations, in the style of folk art, almost surrounding each page; the riddle is without marginal decorations, having matter-of-fact figures in the text; but all are drawn in the same forceful technique and printed in russet and black, harmonizing with a well-chosen heavy typeface. The note introducing each section is in italics, of a different face.
