Busted

W. W. Norton and Company, New York, New York, 2009

Description

The subject matter was pretty serious and, er, perhaps a bit dry? I was asked to try to do something bold and big. The house/arrow idea was the first I had and easily the best. It seemed simple, clear and to the point. Keeping the background dark allowed the arrow and type to pop out. The title itself is simple and impactful, and the rest of the copy was, thankfully, kept to a minimum. The house itself is a strange optical illusion. If you look at it the right way up, it has enormous eaves and the strangest pitch of a roof you will ever see.

Juror Notes

The perfect, and I mean perfect concept. This is the kind of jacket that solves its brief with minimum fuss, but exemplary intelligence.
