Burton Snowboards Utopian Riding Technology Dealer Catatogue
Jager Di Paola Kemp Design, Burlington, Vermont, 1995
Description
In 1995, snowboarding was poised on the brink of mainstream acceptance, as powerful companies lined up to invest in the sport. This catalogue, created to help Burton stake its claim as the technology leader, reflects the environment of 1995, which saw a huge explosion in video game technology, 3-D imagery, and the incessant buzz of the Internet and virtual reality. The catalogue imagery, created after watching a mix of the super-sterile 2001 followed by the super-groovy Barbarella, supports Burton's technically savvy position with full-on sonic color, techno diagrams, a custom font named Planivers, and a Burton Robot tour guide.
