The Blue Afternoon

The Blue Afternoon

Alfred A. Knopf Publishing Inc., New York, New York, 1995

Description

The Heroine of the Blue Afternoon, a novel by William Boyd has an affinity for a certain brand of candied violets. The book is set at the turn of the century in the Philippines. Coverwise, this is a followup to the approach to the author’s previous novel, Brazzaville Beach. That jacket referred to cigarrette packaging because of one of its characters chainsmoking habit. This jacket refers loosely to what packaging to the aforementioned violets might look like. Not inappropriate, considering that book jackets are technically packaging as well.
