Rabbit Hill

Rabbit Hill

Morris Colman, 1944

Description

Juror Notes

The gravure process shows the drawings to good advantage in a rich brown-black ink, while the text is printed in black by letterpress. The wide margins, generous leading, and careful adjustment of pictures to text give a pleasant, leisurely air to the page. Occasionally, when one of the vignette drawings is quite solid toward the edge, it seems too close for comfort to that edge. The cloth binding, delicately imprinted by offset with a neat line pattern in green, contrasts with the brown-black of the body.
