Crossing Boundaries: The Ceramic Sculpture of Mineo Mizuno

Crossing Boundaries: The Ceramic Sculpture of Mineo Mizuno

Matsumoto Incorporated, New York, New York, 2005

Description

We wanted to design an unusual book for this ceramic artist. The work contains many unusual textures and patterns, and we used one for the jacket, printing it in reverse on the inside of the translucent sheet. The natural-colored bookbinding cloth also adds to the textural effect. Although some of the work is large, much of it is on a small scale, so the book is small to give it an intimate feel. The uncoated paper enhances the tactile quality of the work.

Juror Notes

Interesting variety of photographic perspectives, a quality paper stock, simple cover and spare use of second type color all add to the allure of this package.
