Echoes of the Elders

Echoes of the Elders

Callaway Editions, New York, New York, 1997

Description

Echoes of the Elders is the first in a storytelling series dedicated to preserving the spoken word in book form. I wanted this book to be a tall tale. Its grand size, large type, and silhouetted paintings set against a stark white background were combined to instill a larger-than-life feeling. Passing a story down to a child is a gift that should feel magical to both child and reader. The ligatures in the fonts Mrs Eaves and Mantinia were selected so as to capture the feeling of a secret language, another time and place.
