Architecture of Red Vienna

Architecture of Red Vienna

MIT Press, Cambridge, Massachusetts, 1998

Description

This book is about the housing and programs initiated in socialist Vienna from 1919 to 1934. The design was inspired by the exhibitions the municipality erected for public dissemination of information. As the book designer, my concerns were no different from the city planners—to present and communicate clearly the vast archive of visual and written materials. The twenty-one-figure grid for the chapter openers and cover emphasize the breadth of work that went on at that time.
