13th Street Network Launch
Hatmaker, Watertown, Massachusetts, 1997
Description
13th Street is an action and suspense channel launched by Universal Studios in France and Germany. It’s a channel about place, but not a specific place. From the bumpers to the ID’s to the menus, 13th Street is a state of mind.
We needed to convey a sense of place first through the channel logo, so a street sign was a natural fit. It can contain any number of languages and can therefore travel to numerous international markets, which was essential in our exploration of logo designs for the channel. Elements of danger, suspense and an urban sensibility were integral to creating the on-air look of 13th Street. Through the use of live action and animation, the channel blossomed into one with a very unique look and feel. The final result: “The most dangerous address on television.”
