The Great Balsamo, World-renowned Magician and King of Escape Artists

Stefan Salter, New York, New York, 1946

Description

Juror Notes

Just how far to play up the theatrical in the design of a biography of a vaudeville figure is a question permitting a wide variety of answers. A satisfactory solution is seen in this volume. The title page is very striking and thereafter the author has pretty much his own way. Perhaps the cloth shortage is responsible for the binding colors being unrelated to the inside.
