Nick Jr. Alphabet Song

Nick Jr. Alphabet Song

MTV Networks, New York, New York, 2010

Description

Project brief: To create a song that introduced the letters of the alphabet to our preschool audience in an exciting, innovative, visually stunning way.

Approach: Nick Jr. is a 24-hour, commercial-free network with an educator-created curriculum and a strong belief in the idea that any moment can become a teachable moment. In this song, our terrific teacher, Moose A. Moose, and his birdie buddy, Zee, sing a song about the letters of the alphabet as part of our early literacy curriculum. We know that for our two- to five-year-old audience, phonological awareness and letter recognition are key early reading skills, so we playfully incorporated those educational concepts (and others) into the story of the song. In “I Love Letters,” Moose and Zee make the letters of the alphabet into the stars of their very own Busby Berkeley-esque musical extravaganza.

Effectiveness: There are a lot of songs about the ABCs out there, but the visual and editorial tone of this spot made it unique to the Nick Jr. Network. From an underwater oasis to the glitz of 42nd Street, the vibrant and varied backgrounds beautifully illustrated Moose’s enthusiastic love letter to letters!

Juror Notes

We love letters too! New take on the ABCs that engages kids. Perfectly targeted to demographic.
