Foo Fighters “UFO”

Foo Fighters “UFO”

Capitol Records, Hollywood, California, 1996

Description

In keeping with the “Foo Fighters/UFO” theme of the project, we didn’t want the cover image to be visually obvious. The raygun (a “Daisy XZ-38 Disintegrator pistol”) was found in a book David Grohl suggested. A daisy toy gun collector in Minnesota was located through a want ad in a national toy collector magazine. The next part of the project was to photograph the raygun, but not just a typical shot. We decided to shoot a 4”x5” Polaroid of it and transfer it onto watercolor paper, shooting forty images to get the right one. The image used for the final cover was the very first one shot.
