Cyclone typeface

Cyclone typeface

Hoefler & Frere-Jones, New York, New York, 2004

Description

Many decorated typefaces are either decidedly stodgy or insufferably hip. In developing Cyclone, we identified one of the culprits-six letters whose design can dramatically polarize the disposition of a typeface. Cyclone includes alternates for each of these characters, whose addition allows the face to appear either solemn and commanding or exuberant and spry.
