Description

Eric J. Smith is an award-winning storyteller, image maker and the creative director of Free Range Studios. Creators of viral internet sensations “The Meatrix” and “The Story of Stuff,” Free Range tells stories to create positive change in the world. In his time with Free Range, he has directed videos for Autodesk’s Sustainability Workshop, Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, the World Resources Institute, the Monterey Bay Aquarium and the Kaiser Family Foundation.

With a career spanning 15 years, Eric has also created film and television title sequences, branded major corporations and cultural institutions, and co-executive produced a television series that greened celebrity homes.

A RISD graduate, Eric began his career as an intern at Tibor Kalman’s M&Co and as the designer of the AIGA Journal of Graphic Design. He is a member of the Directors Guild of America and lives in Orinda, California, with his black lab, Pete.
