Perforated Heart explores two wholly different characters—a young, ambitious artist and his older self, jaded by both success and failure, and heart trouble. Eric Bogosian’s latest work comes on the heels of his two previous novels: Mall (cover designed by Kevin Brainard) and Wasted Beauty (cover designed by Carin Goldberg). Bogosian’s wife, Jo Bonney, is, among other things, a cover designer. I felt these factors would give me a chance to approach the book with an expanded design sense. A literal interpretation executed to its fullest.
