Ed Ruscha and Photography

Green Dragon Office, Los Angeles, California, 2004

Description

This book contains one long, highly readable essay focused on Ruscha’s use of photography as reference for his paintings, drawings and prints, and on his development of his photographic books. A large number of photographs are reproduced at true size. Also, the book is printed in CMYK, even though almost all the originals are in black and white; this enabled us to capture the tonal differences between different printing papers that Ruscha utilized over the years. The book’s typography makes a slight reference to the very American, very pop nature of Ruscha’s work.
