Description

Richard Saul Wurman FAIA, is an architect, cartographer, and the author and designer of more than sixty books. He has received Guggenheim, Graham, Chandler, and NEA fellowships, the 1991 Kevin Lynch Award from MIT, and in 1993 was appointed Visiting Scholar at the MIT Media Lab. He became a fellow of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in 1994. He was awarded a Doctorate of Fine Arts by the University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 1994 and an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters by the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena in 1995. He is chairman and creative director of the TED Conferences, which focus on the merging and converging of the fields of Technology, Entertainment, and Design, in the service of learning and communications. He is an honorary member of the American Center of Design, a member of AGI, and a board member of the Corporate Design Foundation.
