The Old One and the Wind. Poems

The Old One and the Wind. Poems

Nancy Schleede, U of U Press, Salt Lake City, Utah, 1973

Description

As part of the design concept, the pressman formulated a second ink color to match the Cadiz Green endpapers. Great pains were also taken to ensure that the position of the tree motif remain consistent throughout the book. At paste-up stage, the horizontal position of each poem was determined by visual appearance.

This is a first collection, well reviewed. The poems are concerned with “the hard realities of life and death in the American West; (they) bring to mind the extraordinary paintings of Georgia O’ Keefe.”
Sales have been higher than anticipated for a poetry book, and the publisher plans a second edition within 18 months.
