Tales from the Vienna Woods: The Story of Johann Strauss
Maurice Serle Kaplan, 1944
Description
Juror Notes
The title-page sets the feeling of suppleness for the entire book. The subject matter is appropriately expressed through the use of a light, open page, a graceful title typeface, and blond line drawings. All harmonize in weight and are spaced well from each other, but the margins are war casualties. The end matter, consisting of tables, musical quotations, and a family tree, is deftly arranged. The stamping of the binding is unfortunately weak.
