Sommese Design Poster

Sommese Design Poster

Sommese Design, State College, Pennsylvania, 1996

Description

This is one of a series of three posters that were produced as giveaways to the friends, clients, and prospective clients of Sommese Design, a husband and wife design team (or wife and husband, depending on which side of the poster is up).

The image is intended to express some of the problems and/or advantages of a married couple working together. The intertwined legs could represent helping each other or dragging each other down. (Believe me, the interpretation changes constantly, depending on our moods, the day, the client, our baby girl, etc.)

The image seems particularly timely—especially in light of the persistent reinvention of the relationship between the sexes in our society nowadays. The one-color palette was felt to be an appropriate way to present the simple line image without adding anything that was confusing. It was also good for our budget, since it was the least expensive alternative.
