McDermott & McGough: A History of Photography
Arena Editions, Santa Fe, New Mexico, 1998
Description
This project is a retrospective of the photography of David McDermott and Peter McGough, the artist duo who have found immense inspiration from the nineteenth century. A History of Photography is the first collection of their photographs using archaic, non-silver printing processes. The book was designed to evoke the look and feel of early illustrated books, while allowing these unique photographic images to speak on their own terms. The paper selection, design for the cover, and overall layout reflect the duo’s aesthetic point of view, and yet the book is a very modern object using some of the best printing and binding available in the world.
