Spoon poster
Planet Propaganda, Madison, Wisconsin, 2000
Description
The design problem was to create a poster that promoted a concert at the University of Wisconsin by the band Spoon. Taking cues from one of the band’s songs, “The Fitted Shirt,” which speaks of longing for simpler times, the vintage illustration of the shirt was an easy choice. The intentional disconnect of the image of a shirt and the word “Spoon” ultimately made this poster memorable to students and faculty. The poster had to be created on almost no budget, and was limited to two colors to be screen printed. Since I was allowed total creative freedom, the end product was consistent with the original concept.
