The Killing Yard teaser
Motion Theory, Venice, California, 2001
Description
After producing The Killing Yard, a true-life story of the Attica riots, Showtime Networks wanted a teaser that referenced not just the film’s courtroom aspects, but also the historical importance and deeper values inherent in the story.
The stark contrast between a single strand of barbed wire and a gently drifting feather forms the basis of the visuals, while the sound bed begins with an ominous wind rising and falling.
Juror Notes
“I love the transition where the barbed wire turns into a feather. It’s a nice juxtaposition and an unexpected twist. The timing was right. I give it an ‘A’ for the transition and ‘A’ for the fact that it is a teaser that’s not using footage of the film and therefore doesn’t give the film away.”
